Welcome

I love making things. Fabric, yarn, fibre, paper, paint and print are my tools of choice. The necessities of life generally manage to get in the way of my need to create , so it all tends to get a bit erratic. Exactly as the blog title suggests.

Here is my attempt to organise things and keep a record of my efforts.

My little Folksy shop is taking a holiday for a while but I hope to re-open soon and sell things that I have made for the sheer pleasure, but are surplus to my needs.

10 October 2010

I think I will go with the purists on this one.

...I do love space dyed yarn, but I have to bow to those who have greater knowledge, talent and skill with lace knitting ( Lankakomero ) and agree that this type of yarn is not necessarily the best for lace projects.

I think the term is "frogged"  it is not an expression I like much, but I suppose it gives the visual image of the little frog trying to get out of the well jumping three feet up and falling down two feet - or even the other way round! All rather disheartening -"undo" will suffice.

I am sure the yarn will make a beautiful pair of socks ( one day).

This yarn would have been much better.

Not to worry, I can now read charts and am really pleased about that - a whole new world of knitting is now open to me! So, when I have finished the lacy scarf and one or two other surprise projects I will get back to the 22 Leaves Shawlette and will ruefully bring up the rear in the challenge as there are many folks out there in Yarnland who have finished at least one of these shawlettes already.

In the meantime, a big thank to The Pink Penguin for her wonderful tutorials, one of which I used to help me make this shopping bag for a friend of my Mum. I used the idea of the Lunch Bag and made it bigger, but as I was using some small samples of curtain fabric, had to patch some pieces together to get a big enough piece for the main body of the bag

and finally, words are redundant on this image.

I hope my neighbour did not mind me standing in her garden at 7:30am one morning last week to take this photo!
