Welcome

I love making things. Fabric, yarn, fibre, paper, paint and print are my tools of choice. The necessities of life generally manage to get in the way of my need to create , so it all tends to get a bit erratic. Exactly as the blog title suggests.

Here is my attempt to organise things and keep a record of my efforts.

My little Folksy shop is taking a holiday for a while but I hope to re-open soon and sell things that I have made for the sheer pleasure, but are surplus to my needs.

Anyone would think that....

... this is a trainspotting blog.

It isn't.

However, Wednesday afternoons seem to be a regular time for the trains at Bitton to get an outing and I just happen to be passing by.  There is something irresistible about these fabulous old machines. So as instructed, I took the opportunity to Stop, Look and Listen.

It seems like it has been the only time recently that I have stopped!

On Monday afternoon I ventured out into the homeward commuter traffic on the M5 at Aztec West to go to the monthly Spin-in at Spinning Weal in Clevedon.

I think I should have one of those signs - " I'd really much prefer to be in the passenger seat knitting."  There are some folks who really do want to go places in a rush!

I spent a lovley evening in great company and I made this

which is an improvement on my first attempt.

I collected my big sister of all embroidery frames so that I will be able to start work on my Omega tapestry. Watch this space.

The homage to a 1980's Wendy pattern of an aran jumper with a Wheatsheaf on the front has progressed  I knitted the pattern up at the time and vowed I would never do it again.  I did love that jumper though, but, as I made it in cheap yarn it has been in jumper heaven for some years.

I had 3 balls of aran weight wool from Jo's Mums stash, not enough for a jumper, but hey, enough to make a bag, with a panel of a wheatsheaf!  Yeah!  As all aran projects tend to do, (well in my inexpert hands) it has grown a little bit bigger than planned and I have now run out of the yarn, so it will have a base of a different colour.

I am still not going to make the jumper again.

However, there are some ladies in Scotland who can knit for Inverallan Ltd , they must knit at least 100 times faster than me. They make a jumper similar to the original design which was promoted in the Sunday Times all those years ago... I really, really, am not going to knit the whole jumper again so one day..... I may just buy one!

In the meantime. Life goes on at the speed of a ....

  3. Thanks for the lovely comment on my blog. I have 2 cameras that I use regularly. The first is a pocket camera Fujifilm Finepix F30 and the second is a DSLR Nikon D40. I tend to use aperture setting and Gimp to edit my pictures. That flower picture was taken with a macro setting on my Fuji camera.
